Awards are $500 (except the Major Achievement Award, which is $1,000) and a one-week residency at Edenfred in Madison, Wisconsin.
All entries must have been published between January 1 and December 31 of the contest year.

Nominations are also accepted for The Council for Wisconsin Writers Major Achievement Award ($1,000) recognizing work of outstanding merit by a Wisconsin writer in any genre.
The Major Achievement Award and the Christopher Latham Sholes Award ($500) recognizing a Wisconsin resident for outstanding encouragement and support of Wisconsin writers will be awarded in alternating years. The Sholes Award will be back in 2007.
